U.S. Second Lady Visits Malawi

U.S. Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden visited Malawi July 18-20. During her visit, Dr. Biden announced $20 million (MK14 billion) in food assistance to support vulnerable, food insecure communities in Malawi, bringing the U.S. Government’s total emergency food assistance to Malawi to $74.7 million (MK 52 billion) since October 2015.  Dr. Biden also visited U.S. Government-funded girls education and food assistance projects in Machinjiri, Zomba, and Lilongwe, and met with Malawi’s First Lady, Madame Gertrude Mutharika.
