Notice of Funding Opportunity
Embassy Lilongwe is pleased to announce we are accepting proposals for the PEPFAR Small Grants Program.
U.S. Embassy Lilongwe will partner with community organizations to complete small scale projects that support the Malawi Health Sector Strategic Plan, the Malawi National Strategic Plan for HIV/AIDS, and the PEPFAR Malawi Country Operational Plan 2023. Successful applicants will show a strong connection to the local community and a history of successful work. Priority activities include encouraging back to care, promoting treatment literacy, disseminating accurate HIV public messages, providing solutions to stigma and discrimination, and enhancing HIV prevention, care, and support.
Grants for up to $10,000 are available. Projects that address needs within disadvantaged or marginalized populations are encouraged.

- Application Period: 8 February 2023 – 10 April 2023
- Grant Award Announcement: September 2023.
Limits
- One proposal per organization.
- Funding is competitive and not guaranteed.
Applicant Criteria
Eligible applicants are community-based organizations (CBOs), youth networks, faith-based organizations (FBOs), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that work directly with communities in promoting HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment, and adherence practices. Applicants should be organized, motivated, and able to show a real impact in the community. The proposed project must be feasible and based on the local socio-economic context. Applicants should have adequate internal controls and financial monitoring procedures in place, and strong ties to and support from the local community and local governmental bodies.
