The U.S. Embassy in Lilongwe, Malawi will be closed to the public on Friday, May 1, and Thursday, May 14, in observance of the Labor Day (Malawian) and Kamuzu Day (Malawian) holidays, respectively.
The U.S. Embassy will also be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day (U.S.) holiday. No visa or other consular appointments have been scheduled for these days and no walk-in appointments will be seen.
Due to limited staffing, walk-in services for U.S. citizens will only be available on Tuesday afternoons between 1:00 and 4:30 p.m. and on Thursday mornings between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. beginning Friday, May 8, through Friday, June 5, 2015. Non-emergency American Citizens Services will not be available outside of those hours. U.S. citizens requiring routine assistance (such as passport renewals or notarial services) are encouraged to conclude these before May 8 or after June 5. Appointments for non-immigrant visa interviews will be available on Wednesday mornings only, May 13, 20, 27, and June 3, 2015.
U.S. citizens seeking emergency services may contact the U.S. Embassy at 01-733-166 or via email at ConsularLilong@state.gov. The Consular Section will resume normal services and appointments on Tuesday, May 2, and Friday, May 15, respectively.
