The Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Lilongwe, Malawi, will be closed to the public from Wednesday – Thursday, July 13-14, while the Consular Officer is away from the office. The Consular Section will also be closed to the public from Friday, July 22, through Monday, August 1, pending the arrival of the new Consular Officer.
No visa or other consular appointments have been scheduled for July 13 – 14 and July 22 – August 3 and no walk-in appointments will be seen.
No public holidays are anticipated during the month of August or prior to Monday, September 5, on which date the U.S. Embassy will be closed for the Labor Day (U.S.) holiday.

The Consular Section reminds the public that non-emergency American Citizens Services (ACS), Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV), and Immigrant Visa (IV) services are available by appointment only. ACS or NIV appointments are only scheduled using the online appointment applications at our website. IV appointments in Malawi are scheduled in advance by the National Visa Center (NVC) in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
